February is National Heart Health Month! Protect your heart by replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats. Here are four ways to get more heart healthy fats into your daily routine.

  • GO FISH!
    Fish such as Salmon, Albacore Tuna, Lake Trout, Mackerel, Herring and Sardines are packed with Omega-3 Fatty Acids.
  • BE NUTTY!
    Add 1 ounce of nuts or seeds per day to get a boost of heart healthy fats, protein and fiber. Good choices include walnuts, almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, peanuts, pumpkin seeds and brazil nuts.
  • ADD AVOCADO!
    Snack, cook and bake with avocado to add healthy fats, fiber and essential vitamins and minerals.
  • OPT FOR HEART HEALTHY OILS!
    Good choices include avocado, olive, canola, grapeseed, peanut, safflower, sesame, and sunflower oils.
